TEHRAN, Iran, Sept.21
Trend:
Fuel smuggling from Iran to Afghanistan has reduced by 75 percent in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) compared to the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), said the head of the National Iranian oil products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) in Khorasan Razavi Province, Alireza Yazdinejad.
"A total of 103,303 liters of fuel including diesel, kerosene and gasoline were confiscated at the joint border between Iran and Afghanistan, west of Khorasan Razavi Province during the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020)," said Yazdinejad, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Changing location of a fuel station, and supply of fuel to transportation fleet heading to Afghanistan with approved tariff of 60,000 rials (about $1.4) per liter was the main reasons that helped to reduce fuel smuggling," he said.
"About 90 percent of confiscated smuggled fuel was diesel while 10 percent was gasoline and kerosene," he said.
"The biggest smuggling case was 930,000 liters that were confiscated from 31 fuel trucks going from Qom Province of Iran to Afghanistan," Yazdinejad added.
"At the moment Iran distributes 280,000 liters of diesel fuel to Dogharoon border market station, districts 17 Shahrivar and Dogharoon Special Economic Zone," he said.
