ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 20. Kazakhstan's Atyrau Oil Refinery has reported its performance for the year 2024, publishing preliminary data, Trend reports.
According to the company’s press service, the expected oil processing for the 12 months of 2024 is 5,543,700 tons, which is 68,300 tons more than the same period last year (5,475,500 tons).
The refinery has exceeded the approved plan set by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan for 2024 (5,500 thousand tons) by 100.8 percent, or 44,000 tons. Thus, this year is expected to set a record for raw material processing in the refinery’s history.
In the first 11 months, compared to the same period in 2023, processing increased by 69,771 tons. At the same time, emissions of pollutants were reduced by 10.1 percent, and the discharge of pollutants decreased by 71 tons due to the reconstruction of the treatment plant. The cleaning of additional settling ponds at the treatment facilities in 2023 reduced waste formation by 32.4 percent.
To note, the Atyrau refinery remains one of the largest taxpayers in the region. This year, the company will contribute 151.5 billion tenge ($287.6 million) to the country’s budget.
