Azerbaijan’s retail sector records growth in trade turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. From January through July of this year, goods worth 38.35 billion manat ($22.53 billion) were sold to consumers in Azerbaijan’s retail sector.

This was announced in a report published by the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, this represents a 3.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, from January through June of this year, goods worth 32.389 billion manat ($19.06 billion) were sold to consumers in Azerbaijan’s retail sector.

Compared to the first six months of 2025, retail sales grew by 3.7% in real terms.

In total, Azerbaijan generated a GDP of 76.818 billion manat ($45.1 billion) for the period from January through July of this year. This figure increased by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2025.

Over the reporting period, value added in the oil and gas sector of the economy decreased by 0.6% to 22.917 billion manat ($13.4 billion), while in the non-oil and gas sector, it increased by 2.2% to 53.901 billion manat ($31.71 billion).

The retail sector includes all businesses that sell goods and services directly to end consumers for personal use. It sits at the final stage of the supply chain, acting as a bridge between producers or wholesalers and everyday buyers. The Retail industry is a major global economic driver and a massive source of jobs.
