BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11. The ball is rolling on the construction of the Mil Nadir renewable energy power plant in the Zabol district of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, nestled in the southeast corner of Iran, the country's Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi told reporters, Trend reports.
He posits that the region has predominantly emphasized fossil fuel utilization in recent years, exhibiting a notable deficiency in the exploration and adoption of renewable energy alternatives.
Aliabadi highlighted that Iran has established itself as a key player in the wind turbine manufacturing sector for multiple years. Moreover, a multitude of Iranian enterprises are dynamically involved in the development and implementation of photovoltaic power generation facilities.
The Iranian minister articulated that the Energy Ministry of Iran is poised to initiate the construction of 30,000 megawatts of photovoltaic solar power facilities alongside 8,000 megawatts of wind turbine installations.
It is pertinent to highlight that, as per the data from Iran's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, the capacity for power generation from renewable energy facilities is quantified at 1,450 megawatts. The capacity for energy generation from photovoltaic installations in Iran is quantified at 608 megawatts.
