DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 27. Extraction of crude oil, gas, metallic ores, etc. in Tajikistan increased by 1.9 times from January through April 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Statistics Agency shows that the sector with the highest growth was crude oil and gas extraction, 2.9 times, and metallic ores, 1.9 times. Extraction of brown coal grew by 12.6 percent, and other minerals by 44.2 percent.
Moreover, the total volume of products produced in the
extractive sector of the economy amounted to 6,364.5 million somoni
(approximately $630.1 million).
Growth in the extractive sector contributed to an overall
industrial growth of the Republic of about 23.4 percent in the
first quarter of 2025.
Tajikistan connected to the Central Asian energy ring in 2024, which made it possible to avoid blackouts during peak loads on the energy system and to give back electricity produced by HPPs during the seasonal increase in electricity generation.
