BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. Approximately 1 million tons of CO₂ equivalent greenhouse gas emissions were reduced across SOCAR’s operations in Azerbaijan.

This was announced in SOCAR's 2025 Sustainability Report.

According to the report, the decrease in emissions was achieved primarily through the implementation of the Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program at SOCAR’s Azneft Production Union.

Besides, in the reporting year, the company’s Decarbonization Roadmap was approved. The document defines the areas for reducing methane emissions, advancing electrification, deploying carbon capture technologies, improving energy efficiency, and expanding the use of renewable energy sources.

SOCAR also issued $200 million in Green Bonds to support the financing of renewable energy projects.

The report noted that the share of procurement spending directed to local suppliers in Azerbaijan increased from 82% to 88%.

The SOCAR Group’s social expenditure amounted to 412 million manat ($242 million).

During the year, 11 employee development programs were implemented, including the Leadership Academy, Energy Leaders, and Young Talents programs.

In total, more than 525,000 training hours were provided to employees during the reporting period. The employee engagement rate stood at 84%, while the satisfaction rate was 78%.
