BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. Two carbon projects implemented by SOCAR Trading in 2025 resulted in a reduction of 63,697 tons of greenhouse gas emissions measured in CO₂ equivalent, according to SOCAR’s 2025 Sustainability Report.

According to the report, the SOCAR Hydro Bundle-3 renewable energy project in Lachin prevented 5,872 tons of CO₂-equivalent emissions.

The 7.1-megawatt project replaces fossil fuel-based electricity with renewable power generated by a small hydropower plant.

Meanwhile, the Advanced LDAR project at the Neft Dashlari field reduced methane emissions by 57,825 tons of CO₂ equivalent. The project supports the systematic detection of leaks, measurement of their volume and timely repairs.

The report also said initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring sturgeon and Caspian salmon populations were supported to strengthen the resilience of aquatic ecosystems in the Caspian region.

At the same time, SOCAR conducted Azerbaijan’s first climate risk assessment and disclosed its findings.

The assessment identified five climate-related risks to SOCAR’s operations on the Absheron Peninsula.
