TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 16. Uzbekistan’s Committee on Highways and the Turkish IC İçtaş İnşaat company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on plans to construct a new high-speed toll road connecting Samarkand, Bukhara, and Navoi regions, Trend reports.

The document was signed at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov with a member of the Board of Directors of IC İçtaş İnşaat Reha Denemech.

During the meeting, the Turkish delegation shared insights into their expertise in building highways, tunnels, and bridges under PPP arrangements. Both parties highlighted the importance of leveraging this experience to modernize Uzbekistan's transport infrastructure.

In addition to the highway project, the meeting explored other potential areas of collaboration, including road and bridge modernization, airport construction, and effective use of PPP mechanisms. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress in cooperation on infrastructure projects in recent years.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing mutually beneficial ties and implementing systematic measures to achieve their shared goals.

IC İçtaş İnşaat, with 55 years of experience, has successfully completed major infrastructure projects in Türkiye and abroad. These include a 150-kilometer highway in Istanbul and the 1.5-kilometer-long Yavuz Sultan Selim Bosphorus Bridge. The company is also leading the construction of a new airport in Vietnam.
