ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 12. Turkish investors plan to implement 10 investment projects in the agricultural sector in Kazakhstan, said Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov at the platform of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ankara, Trend reports.
"Currently, 10 investment projects worth $553 million are planned for implementation. These are also modern high-tech projects, including the construction of a greenhouse complex, a plant for deep processing wheat and peas, the construction of a vegetable storage facility, gelatin production, and full-cycle processing of legumes, grains, and oilseeds," he said.
As the minister noted, with the participation of Turkish investors, 6 projects worth $53 million have already been successfully implemented in Kazakhstan.
"These are projects for the production of confectionery products, the cultivation of agricultural crops, the production of cottonseed oil, the processing of legumes, and others," Saparov added.
To note, the volume of trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Türkiye amounted to $325 million in 2023.
Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Türkiye amounted to $2.05 billion from January through May 2024, which is 19.5 percent less than for the same period in 2023 ($2.54 billion).
The main share is occupied by exports to Türkiye. Thus, in the first quarter of 2024, the volume of exports to Türkiye amounted to $1.3 billion (for the same period in 2023 - $1.65 billion).
In addition, imports from Türkiye decreased by 15.4 percent compared to the first five months of 2023 and amounted to $755.1 million. From January through May 2023, imports amounted to $893.3 million.
