BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Iran imported 5,160 trucks worth $640 million in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), said Mohammad Rezvanifar, director general of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Trend reports.
The director general also stated that a total of 24,150 trucks were imported into the country since the current Iranian government took office (August 2021).
Rezvanifar added that the aim of importing trucks is to enhance the cargo transportation capacity on the country’s roads and to replace the old trucks in the country.
According to him, Iranian customs is following all the necessary procedures to expedite the import of trucks into the country.
The IRICA's latest data shows that Iran’s overall imports stood at 32.7 million tons, worth $54.3 billion, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year, representing an 11.6 percent increase in value and a 6 percent increase in volume year-on-year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
