ZANGILAN, Azerbaijan, August 2. Karabakh University aims to become a world-class institution, while remaining commited to Azerbaijan's national values, the university's rector Shahin Bayramos said, Trend's correspondent reports from the event.

He made the remark during the opening ceremony of the Seventh Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth in Zangilan.

According to him, Karabakh University's primary mission is not only to train highly qualified professionals for Azerbaijan's territories liberated from occupation, but also to educate citizens who will proudly represent the country around the world while remaining committed to its national values.

Bayramov noted that President Ilham Aliyev has identified the development of education in the liberated territories as one of the country's key state policy priorities. "Today, educational institutions are among the first infrastructure facilities to be established in the cities and villages being rebuilt. This reflects a long-term state policy focused on the future," the rector said.

He recalled that Karabakh University was established on Nov. 28, 2023, just two months after the liberation of Khankendi, and welcomed its first students less than a year later, on Sept. 20, 2024.

According to Bayramov, the university currently has more than 2,100 students and over 400 faculty and staff engaged in teaching and research. "Our main goal is to transform Karabakh University into a world-class institution of higher education. A university bearing the name of Karabakh must meet the highest standards," he said.

The rector noted that the university will admit students to 49 academic programs this year and is developing as a new-generation institution based on a modern educational model. "Karabakh University is not only training qualified professionals. Our mission is also to educate responsible citizens who love Azerbaijan, uphold national and moral values, and remain devoted to their country," Bayramov said.

He added that President Ilham Aliyev has visited the university four times within a short period, reflecting the special attention being given to the institution.

Concluding his remarks, the rector encouraged the diaspora youth to make the most of the summer camp program. "This week will become one of the most memorable periods of your lives. The knowledge and experience you gain here will play an important role in your future endeavors," he said.
