DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 19. The ball is rolling on cotton sowing in the Matchin district of Tajikistan's Sughd region, with plans to plant over 12,440 hectares this year—2,000 hectares more than last year, Trend reports via the regional administration.
Sughd region governor Rajabboy Ahmadzoda visited the Boki Hakim farm in the village of Obburdon to inspect the sowing process and measures aimed at boosting productivity. Ahmadzoda formally launched the cotton sowing campaign during the visit. Boki Hakim Farm, covering 5.5 hectares, is using equipment imported from Uzbekistan with regional support.
Additionally, in the Mastchoh community, cotton planting is expanding as well. The governor visited the Khudgif-5 farm, presented gifts to veteran workers, and joined the planting. According to local officials, 3,150 hectares are allocated for cotton in this community alone.
To note, Matchin represents a pivotal locus in Tajikistan's cotton agronomy, characterized by a consistent annual augmentation of cultivated acreage.
