DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 11. Tajikistan has reported significant progress in its agricultural planting campaigns, particularly in cotton cultivation and the overall spring sowing of various crops across the country. Trend reports via the country's Ministry of Agriculture.
As per the latest scoop from the Crop Production Department, cotton has taken root across a sprawling 182,466 hectares in various cities and districts of the country, with 168,653 hectares already bursting forth in full bloom.
Alongside cotton, the spring sowing campaign continues to advance steadily across all regions. By the same date, the total area sown with agricultural crops has reached 444,992 hectares. Within this area, grain crops account for 110,711 hectares, of which wheat occupies 40,163 hectares and barley 38,934 hectares. Industrial crops, including cotton, cover 206,498 hectares, while oilseed crops have been sown on 23,760 hectares.
The planting of potatoes spans 36,505 hectares, and vegetables cover 42,640 hectares. Among vegetables, onions lead with 16,901 hectares, followed by tomatoes on 7,872 hectares, carrots on 4,942 hectares, cucumbers on 4,046.5 hectares, cabbage on 1,782 hectares, and other vegetables on 7,096 hectares. Melons occupy 18,390 hectares, and fodder crops have been planted on 30,249 hectares.
