BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. Eni’s Enilive division marked a major step in its decarbonization strategy in early 2025, launching operations at its first dedicated Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production plant at the Gela biorefinery in January, Trend reports.
The new facility, with a production capacity of 400,000 tons per year, underscores the company’s growing commitment to sustainable fuels and low-emission transport solutions.
In March, Eni further strengthened its industrial transformation ambitions by extending a strategic collaboration agreement with Saipem. Originally signed in November 2023, the partnership focuses on constructing new biorefineries, converting traditional refineries, and developing broader industrial decarbonization initiatives.
In another key development, Eni finalized a transaction in April with global investment firm KKR, increasing the latter’s stake in Enilive. The agreement, first announced in February, involved the sale of a further 5% share in Enilive for approximately 601 million euros. With this latest transaction, KKR now holds a 30% stake in the company. This includes a 25% investment finalized in October 2024, which brought Eni proceeds of around 2.97 billion euros.
