ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 4. Based on KazMunayGas’s data, jet fuel production is projected to reach 1.5 million tons by 2031, primarily due to the expansion of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP, said Marat Omarov, Chairman of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition, during a meeting on the development of the jet fuel market, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, Omarov presented strategies for improving the pricing mechanism for jet fuel, focusing on its distribution through wholesale and retail sellers, including airports.
The meeting also touched upon the issue of import substitution. The official noted that currently the products of KMG Group (“KazMunayGas”) meet the needs of domestic airlines and state aviation in jet fuel.
Moreover, the prospects for restructuring airport financing were discussed. Introducing a service model for infrastructure access will reduce airports’ reliance on unpredictable revenues from jet fuel, while also driving the development of airport services.
"To encourage the modernization of airport infrastructure, the possibility of implementing Key Capacity Rules, developed under the Presidential Decree 'On Measures for Economic Liberalization,' was considered. This includes a one-time deferral for airports with approved investment projects," the Prime Minister's press service stated.
In addition, the Minister of Energy, Erlan Akkenzhenov, the Minister of Transportation, Marat Karabayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas Asset Magauov, and others presented their proposals.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, resulted in several directives. Earlier, Bektanov met with the head of the Russian Government Staff and also engaged with leaders of international sports organizations.
