ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 7. TheChairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas JSC, Askhat Khassenov, met with the President of Vietnamese company PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corp Nguyen Thien Bao (PVEP, a member of PetroVietnam Group) and discussed new areas of cooperation in the energy sector, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to attracting investments and strengthening cooperation.
"At present, the Vietnamese partners are exploring opportunities to participate in prospective geological exploration projects of KMG (KazMunayGas) following the results of the 2025 roadshow. The parties confirmed their interest in jointly implementing oil and gas chemical projects, with a focus on exchanging experience, technologies, and mutually beneficial cooperation. Also, considering the long-standing experience in drilling, capital repairs, and well intervention, KazMunayGas proposed involving its subsidiary oil service companies in PetroVietnam's projects," said the KazMunayGas statement.
The meeting also exchanged views on cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
"KazMunayGas is open to comprehensive cooperation with PetroVietnam in key areas, from geological exploration and oil and gas chemistry to oil services and renewable energy. I am confident that the implementation of joint initiatives will give a significant boost to strengthening the mutually beneficial bilateral partnership between our countries," Khassenov noted during the meeting.
Earlier, during the working visit of the General Secretary of
the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, to
Kazakhstan, an Agreement on cooperation in the field of geological
exploration was signed between KazMunayGas and PetroVietnam
Exploration Production.
PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) is the
upstream arm of Vietnam's state-owned oil and gas conglomerate,
PetroVietnam (PVN). Established in 2007, PVEP is responsible for
the exploration and production of oil and natural gas both
domestically and internationally.
