DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 27. Tajikistan imported 6,047 electric vehicles (EV) in the first three months of 2025, Trend reports via the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
Thus, the total number of electric vehicles in Tajikistan, including electric buses, minibuses, trucks, and special-purpose vehicles, has reached 27,580 units by the end of March 2025. This is an increase of 9,885 units compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the country is actively working to expand the use of electric transport and aims to raise its share to 20–30 percent of all vehicles.
The imports are being carried out under the “State Program for the Development of Electric Transport in Tajikistan for 2023–2028,” initiated by the Ministry of Transport and adopted by the government in October 2022 following the President’s address in December 2021.
Expanding the use of green transport is now a national priority. All EV owners are required to obtain green license plates during vehicle registration.
Tajikistan’s public transport sector is undergoing modernization. Recently, Chinese-made electric minibuses were introduced in the capital. Local manufacturer Akia Avesto Automotive Industry LLC plans to launch serial production of new electric bus models and begin flexible assembly of battery support systems tailored to individual technical and design specifications.
