BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 17. Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced 42.4 billion manats worth of products from January through August 2024 (a 5.99 percent reduction over the year).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee shows that in the reporting period of 2024, the production indicator in the oil and gas sector remained unchanged, while in the non-oil sector, it increased by eight percent compared to the same period of 2023.
Meanwhile, the mining sector accounted for 64.4 percent of industrial output, the manufacturing sector accounted for 29.9 percent, the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam accounted for 4.8 percent, and the water supply, treatment, and waste treatment sector accounted for 0.9 percent.
Besides, production of commercial oil in Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2024 decreased by 4.4 percent, and production of commercial gas increased by 4.1 percent compared to the same period of 2023.
In the manufacturing sector, the production of computer, electronic, and optical products increased by 72.2 percent, the production of pharmaceutical products by 69.4 percent, the production of electrical equipment - 39.9 percent, the production of automobiles, trailers, and semi-trailers - by 36.7 percent, the production of furniture - 31.9 percent, the production of metallurgical products - 27.7 percent, the production of rubber and plastic products - 23.8 percent, the production of finished metal products - 23.3 percent, the production of construction materials - 23 percent, the production of naphtha - 23.3 percent, and the production of other industrial products - 10.4 percent.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the production of clothing decreased by 0.4 percent, the production of leather and leather goods, production of footwear - eight percent, the production of other industrial products - 8.3 percent, production of textile products - 10.3 percent, the installation and repair of machinery and equipment - 14.4 percent, production of printing products - 19.9 percent, the production of machinery and equipment - 29.6 percent, and the production of other vehicles - 52.6 percent.
The volume of production in the sector of generation, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam increased by 0.1 percent in the reporting period, and in the sector of water supply, treatment, and waste processing - by 8.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
To note, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced 66.6 billion manat ($39.1 billion) worth of products in 2023.
