ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 22. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) and Russian Railways have agreed to deepen their strategic partnership, with a focus on expanding transit volumes and enhancing digital technologies, following a meeting between KTZ head Talgat Aldybergenov and Russian Railways CEO Oleg Belozerov, Trend reports via KTZ press service.
The parties signed a protocol to increase daily train exchanges by 30 percent to 85 pairs per day and to develop key junction points by 2027. They also committed to advancing transportation along the North-South International Transport Corridor and accelerating the digitalization and automation of transit on the China-Europe route.
In the first half of 2025, Kazakhstan transported 45 million tons of cargo, marking a 4.1 percent increase, while container transit volumes rose by 18 percent to 273,000 TEU, highlighting the growing importance of Kazakhstan as a regional logistics hub.
