SOCAR to increase oil processing volumes in 2013

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is planning to process 6.6 million tons of oil in 2013, a high ranking SOCAR representative reported to Trend on Wednesday.
In his words, the indicators will reach 6.4 million tons this year, which is almost similar with indicators of last year.

The plans on increase of processing volumes are linked to necessity of greater gasoline production, so additional volumes will provide this.

Necessity to increase gasoline production volumes are linked with the consumption growth of this type of fuel in domestic market.

According to SOCAR representative, consumption volumes of gasoline has grown by 9 per cent compared to similar indicators of last year.

"We have forecasted the consumption growth at level of 5 per cent," SOCAR representative added.

Oil products are produced at two Baku refineries with summary capacity of 20 million tons oil a year. Both refineries belong to SOCAR, which processes around 6 million tons oil, extracted onshore and offshore.

Baku refinery named after Heydar Aliyev is mostly directed to production of light types of oil, Azerneftyag - dark types of oil products.
