BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5. The total number of Asian Development Bank (ADB) projects in Azerbaijan has reached 82, with a total financing of $5.2 billion, of which $1.02 billion are non-sovereign projects and $4.2 billion are sovereign projects, the data of the ADB on cumulative commitments said, Trend reported.
According to the information as of April 2024, the transportation sector received the most attention, with 21 projects with a total funding of $1.4 billion (all sovereign).
Meanwhile, the energy sector followed with 14 projects totaling $1.7 billion (non-sovereign $800.1 million, sovereign $913.8 million).
Furthermore, the public sector management sector also received significant funding, with 16 projects totaling $1 billion (all sovereign). The health sector attracted $252.7 million for 3 projects, agriculture, natural resources, and rural development ($32.1 million), finance ($217.3 million), and information and communication technology ($250,000).
To note, based on the data of the Ministry of Finance, the amount of loans attracted by the Government of Azerbaijan is $3.2 billion.
Simultaneously, state-owned enterprises backed by state guarantees have implemented projects and programs worth $930 million. Direct private sector financing was allocated $62 million, and grants and technical assistance were provided to support projects implemented by ADB in the country.
