Belarus’ Belavia airline company postponed restoration of flights to Kazakhstan, the company told Trend.
Belavia airline said that this is due to the lack of permission of the country’s authorities to implement flights.
Thus, the company has postponed resuming of flights from Minsk to Kazakhstan’s cities till Jul. 15, 2020.
Earlier this month, Kazakhstan announced a decision to resume international flights to a number of countries. The flights are being gradually resumed to Turkey, China, South Korea, Thailand and Japan from Jun. 20, 2020.
The list was then further expanded and included Hungary, India, Germany, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Egypt, Ukraine, Poland, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
In March 2020, in order to prevent coronavirus spread in Kazakhstan, the number of flights was reduced by 438 flights per week on international destinations on 97 routes, which makes up 99 percent of all international flights implemented.
Additionally, all domestic flights have been canceled and no regular air services operated in the country over April 2020. Starting May 1, 2020, the ban on implementation of flights was lifted completely for domestic flights and is stage-by-stage being lifted on international flights, leading local airline companies to work on restoration of flights operation.
The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Kazakhstan since the virus was first confirmed in the country amounted to 21,327. This includes 12,933 people who recovered from the coronavirus, and 183 patients who passed away.
