BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 27. Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas JSC and Univation Technologies, polyethylene technology licensor from the US, have signed a license agreement for supply of a polymerization unit with a production capacity of 625,000 tons of polyethylene per annum, KazMunayGas told Trend.
The unit will be functioning at a new plant in Atyrau.
The agreement between KMG and Univation Technologies will ensure the issuance of a design and technological documentation package for a unit for the production of polyethylene using the UNIPOL Polyethylene Process technology and the provision of a corresponding license for the production of polyethylene.
Earlier, KMG signed a license agreement for the provision of the first unit (625,000 tons of polyethylene per year), with another supplier.
Both units will function at the mentioned plant.
Polyethylene is a critical material for manufacturing products with a wide range of domestic and industrial applications. A variety of products are made from it, including films for food packaging, medical equipment applications, building and finishing materials, high-pressure pipes for industrial use, and products for aviation industry.
