Kazakhstan sets external debt limit for quasi-public sector for 2025

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 30. The Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan is setting a limit on the external debt for the quasi-public sector for 2025, Trend reports.

The order has already been prepared by the Ministry and will be open for public discussion until December 13.

As stated in the annex to the order, the limit on external debt is set at the following amounts:

The National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" – 7.5 million tenge, approximately $16,000

The National Management Holding "Baiterek" – 2.7 million tenge, approximately $6,000

According to statistical data from the National Bank, as of July 1, 2024, the external debt of state-controlled organizations amounted to $16.7 billion. The state debt of the public sector in the expanded definition at that date exceeded $29.5 billion.

It was also previously reported that Kazakhstan's quasi-government companies will once again be required to sell 50 percent of their foreign currency earnings.
