ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 11. Kazakhstan’s GDP grew by 6.5 percent over the first eight months of 2025, Trend reports, citing operational data from the country’s Bureau of National Statistics.
The main drivers of growth were positive dynamics in trade, industry, and the communications sector.
Industry increased by 7.6 percent. Growth in the manufacturing sector accelerated, reaching 6.5 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
Key drivers of manufacturing included:
Mechanical engineering (15.1 percent);
Food production (10.1 percent);
Oil refining (7.6 percent);
Chemical industry (7.5 percent);
Metallurgy (1.1 percent).
Trade saw a jump of 8.9 percent, largely thanks to wholesale trade, which holds the lion's share at 66.6 percent of the sector. The highest growth rates were observed in:
Shymkent (21.3 percent);
East Kazakhstan region (5.7 percent);
Zhetysu region (0.6 percent).
