Drinking water is one of the topical issues in the Mangystau region, Akim (mayor) of Mangistau region Serikbay Trumov said, Trend reports. Desalination plants to be built in Kazakhstan's Mangystau region
Trumov made the statement at a briefing at the Central Communications Service.
“There is a shortage of up to 30,000 cubic meters in summer. The cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau, the nearby settlements, and the Munaylinsky district are especially affected. A plan has been developed to address this issue,” he said.
“Several desalination plants are planned to be built in the coming years in the Kandarli recreation area with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters, in the village of Kuryk and in Fort-Shevchenko – 5,000 cubic meters each, in the city of Aktau – 24,000 cubic meters. At present, design estimates and technical justifications are being developed. In addition, the construction of an additional unit with a volume of 20,000 cubic meters of water at the Caspian desalination plant has begun. For these purposes, 10 billion tenge has been allocated from the republican budget. These works will be completed by June,” the mayor of the region said.
Trumov added that additional projects are being developed for the Munaily region, and it is planned to launch a desalination plant for 1,000 cubic meters of water.
