Tbilisi informs foreign ambassadors about breach of Georgia's airspace by Russia

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze has today met with ambassadors of the U.S., UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France, as well as with heads of the EU delegations and the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia.

As the Foreign Ministry told Trend, the meeting focused on the breach of the Georgian sovereign airspace by the Russian MI-8 military helicopter on Sept.7, 2011.

The Georgian side stressed that the regular violation of a ceasefire agreement dated Aug.12, 2008 and incursion into the Georgian airspace aims at subsequent escalation of the situation in Georgia.

The Georgian side urged diplomats correspondingly assess the breach of the Georgian airspace by the Russian armed forces and continue pressure on Russia demanding to fulfill the ceasefire agreement and respect fundamental norms and principles of international law.

The Russian side refuted breach of the Georgian airspace.
