ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 14. Kazakhstan has reached an agreement with Telegram to establish an office and appoint a representative in the country, Trend reports via the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry.

During a recent meeting in Kazakhstan, Minister Zhaslan Madiev discussed key issues such as data security, combating fake accounts, and user protection with executives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and major companies like Meta and Apple. These discussions are vital for ensuring a secure digital environment for Kazakhstan's citizens.

"We are actively working with Telegram to swiftly remove unauthorized content and block harmful channels. This agreement to appoint a representative and open an office marks a significant step forward in enhancing content control. We are also beginning our partnership with Meta to address fraudulent schemes, as combating internet fraud is a global challenge that requires collective action," said Zhaslan Madiev.

In line with Kazakhstan's laws, internet platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and TikTok are now required to establish a representative presence in the country.
