ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 24. Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover reached a record level of $141.4 billion, increasing by 1.3 percent in 2024, Trend reports via the Eurasian Development Bank.
"The main driver was the increase in the value of exports (3.1 percent). In 2024, revenues from the export of metals and products grew, contributing 1.6 percentage points, and chemical industry products contributed 1.5 percentage points. The restraining influence came from the decrease in exports of animal products and fuel and energy goods, with negative contributions of 0.4 percentage points and 0.2 percentage points, respectively," the bank noted.
The bank also mentioned that the 1 percent dip in import value was largely tied to a drop in the supply of machinery and equipment. This trend is the result of the investment cycle coming full circle at the large oil fields.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial organization focused on investment activities aimed at developing the economies, trade and economic relations, and integration processes in the countries of the Eurasian region.
