BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17.​ Several enterprises are planned to start operations in Azerbaijan's Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park this year, the Spokesperson of the the Economic Zones Development Agency (EZDA) Elchin Kazimov told Trend.

He said that the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, the largest industrial park in the South Caucasus, manufactured products worth 13.2 billion manat ($7.8 billion) from 2015 through 2024.

"From 2016 through 2024, products worth 4.6 billion manat ($2.7 billion) were exported. The products made in the park were sold to over 70 countries around the world.

Enterprises invested over 5.5 billion manat ($3.2 billion) in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, managed by the EZDA, and more than 6,400 permanent jobs have been created there.

This year, more than five enterprises are expected to begin operations in the Industrial Park," the spokesperson explained.

According to him, the enterprises that will begin operations will be engaged in the production of electric motor buses, light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, construction chemicals, construction materials, and the packaging of agro-industrial products, such as cardboard and paper products.

The Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park was established by a decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 21, 2011, and covers an area of 613 hectares.
