ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 18. In 2025, Kazakhstan is beginning to transition to a new road surface standard - the Superpave technology, or "super-asphalt," taking an important step towards improving the quality and durability of highways, Trend reports.

This became known during a briefing at the Central Communications Service (CCS). This year, seven experimental test sections will be built in the country, where the Superpave methodology will be applied.

"Superpave (Superior Performing Asphalt Pavements) is a system for designing asphalt concrete pavements, developed by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). It allows for accounting for regional temperature fluctuations, traffic intensity, and heavy vehicle load," noted Yerik Amirbaev, Vice President of the Kazakhstan Road Research Institute.

Today, Superpave is actively used in the US, Canada, China, and European countries.
