BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. Azerbaijan has refunded more than 55.9 million manat ($32.8 million) to consumers under the VAT Refund program from January through April 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy indicates that the refunds were for VAT paid on purchases made from retail and public catering businesses, with exceptions for oil and gas products, automobiles, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco, as well as medical services offered by health institutions and private medical practitioners.
Meanwhile, over 10.7 million manat ($6.2 million) were refunded on residential and non-residential property purchases from individuals involved in the construction sector during the same period. The "VAT Refund" initiative aims to increase transparency in consumer spending and support citizens through tax relief.
