The only possible event will be major G20 summits in Turkey in 2015 and the Turkish government will be able to use that as the way to attract the investments into the Turkish economy, director and co-founder of the Stockholm Institute for Security and Development Policy Svante Cornell told Trend on Friday.
He said that the summits to be held in Turkey as part of its G20 presidency contribute to the strengthening of the country's positions by expanding its economic relations with the G20 countries.
Cornell said that the foreign investments in Turkey for 2009-2013 increased by almost 1.5 times. The investments were made in agriculture, mining, light industry, construction, computer production, electronic, electrical and optical equipment.
According to the official statistics, foreign investments in Turkey reached $12.9 billion in 2014.
According to the Turkish Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research, the maximum amount of investments in the economy of Turkey accounted for the EU countries in 2005-2010: Holland - $356 million, Germany - $ 296 million, France - $ 273 million, Great Britain - $182 million, Italy - $ 38 million.
Other EU countries' total investments in the economy of Turkey averaged $1.338 billion in 2010.
Other territorial entities, communities (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Aruba, Curacao, the Caribbean Netherlands, New Caledonia and French Polynesia) invested in the Turkish economy on average $ 77 million in 2010.
By 2020, Azerbaijan's investments in the Turkish economy will reach $ 20 billion.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Ankara invites foreign countries to invest in the Turkish economy and will do everything possible to raise capital.
"Turkey is currently one of the fastest growing countries in the region," he said.
The G20 participants are 20 largest national economies, namely, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Turkey, France, South Korea, South Africa, Japan and the EU.
