Output of agricultural products in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl Region increased by 3.6 percent during 10 months of 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year, said the head of the region’s executive body, Karim Kokrekbayev during a meeting with Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
The region intends to increase the share of agriculture in gross regional production to 25 percent by 2025, according to Kokrekbayev, Kazakh media reported.
Kazakh government allocated 14 billion tenges for development of the Zhambyl Region's agro-industry since the beginning of the year. Currently, there are 181 agricultural cooperatives in the region, which provide more than 3,000 people with work places.
As part of the working visit to Zhambyl, Prime Minister Sagintayev held a meeting with representatives of agribusiness and officials of southern regions of the country to mull the implementation of the State Program for Development of the Agro-industry in 2017-2021.
The officials discussed further increasing the competitiveness of the industry and export of agricultural products, as well as the development of agricultural cooperatives, increasing the volume of investments in agricultural research and digitization of agriculture.
