The Korea International Cooperation Agency will provide the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan with a grant of $5.5 million, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.
The basis - an intergovernmental framework agreement on grant assistance of 17 June 2014.
The funds will be used to implement the "Creation of business incubators and promotion of entrepreneurship growth in Uzbekistan" project. In particular, an exemplary business incubator will be organized in Tashkent.
The practice of creating business incubators is already being implemented in Uzbekistan as part of youth entrepreneurship clusters, as an experiment in Almazar district, and in Jizzakh as part of the Ilgor Hudud program.
Among the goals pursued are: preparation of proposals to improve the legal and regulatory framework for supporting start-up entrepreneurs, as well as development of an ecosystem of innovative business in Uzbekistan; assistance in the institutional development of organizations whose activities are aimed at promoting the development of youth entrepreneurship; improving the qualifications of personnel through internships in Korea; and the creation of an integrated information system containing all necessary information for start-up entrepreneurs.
