ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 14. In the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan, of the sown 324,400 hectares of grain crops, 272,700 hectares or 84.1 percent were harvested until October 12, 544,600 tons were threshed, the average yield was 20 centners per hectare, Trend reports.
As the Department of Agriculture of Zhetysu Region said, 260,200 hectares or 97.7 percent of cereal grain crops were harvested, 468,900 tons of grain were threshed with an average yield of 18 c/ha; 12,200 hectares or 21.4 percent of corn for grain were harvested, 74,800 tons of products were obtained, the average yield was 61.3 c/ha; 300 hectares of rice or 27.7 percent were harvested, 940 tons of products were obtained with an average yield of 32 c/ha.
Also, 26,900 hectares of oilseeds or 33.4 percent were harvested, at this stage 43,200 tons of products were obtained, with an average yield of 16.1 c/ha.
As for sugar beets, 3,500 hectares or 41.2 percent were harvested, 142,400 tons of products were obtained, the average yield was 402.4 c/ha.
The volume of gross agricultural output in Kazakhstan increased by 3.2 percent in the first half of 2023 and amounted to 2.1 trillion tenge (about $4.4 billion)
The growth was achieved mainly due to a 3.3 percent increase in livestock production volumes. Meat production increased by 4.5 percent (1 million tons in live weight) and milk by 2.9 percent (3.2 million tons).
In 2022, the volume of gross agricultural production increased by 9.1 percent and amounted to 9.3 trillion tenge (about $19.5 billion). This happened due to an increase in crop production by 15 percent. Favorable weather conditions made it possible to carry out the harvesting campaign without downtime and harvest one of the best grain harvests in the last 10 years, which reached 22.8 million tons.
