DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 20. A recent report from the World Food Programme (WFP) shows that the average prices for vegetables in Tajikistan as of January 8, 2024, have decreased over the week, Trend reports.
As per WFP, the average price for a kilogram of potatoes in Tajikistan on January 8, 2024, was 5.4 somoni ($0.49), which is 3 percent lower than the prices on January 2, 2024.
The average price for a kilogram of onions across the country was 3.4 somoni ($0.31) on January 8, 2024, and according to WFP, decreased by 2 percent compared to price on January 2 of the current year.
Meanwhile, the price for a liter of vegetable oil in Tajikistan's markets was 16.8 somoni ($1.54) as of January 8, 2024, which is a 3-percent increase compared to January 2, 2024.
WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Price data is collected through a network of field enumerators, with multiple traders interviewed for each commodity, and average prices recorded.
