TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 18. Uzbekistan’s Melek company and Russian NEVA MILK company signed an agreement on distribution of goods, Trend reports.

The document was signed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kahramon Yuldashev and Russia’s Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation, and Trade, Olga Goryshina.

According to the agreement, the parties decided to establish mutual ties in the areas of interest and stimulate interaction between the business community and interested organizations registered in the territories of both countries.

In addition, the sides discussed the possibilities of supplying fruit and vegetable products grown in Uzbekistan to major trade and retail chains in St. Petersburg, such as Lenta, OKEY, X5 Group, and Magnit.

As a result of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry and the Committee was signed.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover volume with Russia amounted to $6.8 billion from January through July 2024. This figure has increased by 30.7 percent year-on-year ($5.2 billion in January–July 2023).

Russia ranked second among the countries with the largest volume of foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan. The country’s share in the total volume of trade turnover in Uzbekistan accounts for 18.5 percent.
