TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 13. The total trading volume at the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) reached 21.95 trillion soms ($1.71 billion) in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from UZEX shows that this figure marks an increase of 659.3 percent compared to the previous year.
Of this, 19.56 trillion soms ($1.53 billion), accounting for 89.11 percent of the total transactions, were conducted with securities listed on the exchange's quotation list. The remaining volume comprised deals on the organized over-the-counter market, specifically the unlisted trading platform (UTP).
The cumulative number of transactions on the exchange's platforms totaled 498,381 which is 21 percent more than the previous year. Among these, 446,967 transactions involved securities from the exchange's quotation list, while 51,414 were executed on the unlisted trading platform.
The UCI index declined 7.7 percent to close at 655.12 points by the end of the year.
The market capitalization of shares increased by 72.99 trillion sщms ($5.65 billion) or 43.1 percent, reaching 242.4 trillion soms ($18.8 billion), which constitutes 16.7 percent of the GDP.
At year's end, the exchange's quotation list included 142 instruments from 93 issuers. Throughout the year, 23 instruments from 15 issuers were added to the quotation list, comprising 7 issues of corporate bonds and 16 issues of shares.
