BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. The unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and older in Iran decreased by 0.5 percent during 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), the data of Iran's Statistical Center said, Trend reports.
According to the data, the number of unemployed during the 3 months amounted to 2,074,638. This accounted for 7.7 percent of the active society in terms of employment.
The data indicated that the number of unemployed aged 15-24 years old amounted to about 508,845 and the number of unemployed aged 18-35 years old amounted to 1,441,965.
Meanwhile, the data noted that the number of unemployed people with higher education amounted to 892,333 in 3 months. This is 0.5 percent less than in the same period last year.
Furthermore, the information emphasizes that the number of people aged 15 years and above in Iran amounted to 65,048,055 during the mentioned period. Of them, 38,227,889 people were recognized as inactive in economic works and 26,820,166 people were recognized as active in economic works.
