Imports to Iran's Gilan Province hit rough patch

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. The imports of products to Iran's Gilan Province, located in the northern corner of the country, decreased by 35 percent in value and 9 percent in weight during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), the Chairman of the Industrial, Mining, and Trade Organization of Iran's Gilan Province, Teymour Pour Heydari said, Trend reports.

According to him, 103,000 tons of products worth $874 million were imported to Iran's Gilan Province during eight months.

Heydari noted that food and animal feed worth $333 million, vegetable oils worth $134 million, equipment and spare parts worth $122 million, raw materials worth $135 million, and other goods were mainly imported to Gilan Province.

To note, Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 24.5 million tons worth $45.1 billion during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 2024). During the eight months, Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 6.9 percent in value terms and decreased 1.73 percent in weight compared to last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
