At the end of the 12th session of the Iran-Belarus Joint Committee, the two countries signed a MoU to boost mutual economic and trade cooperation.
Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzade and Belarusian Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk inked the document, Fars news agency reported Mar. 6.
The Iranian official speaking at the end of the session stated that the two countries have decided to facilitate mutual transport.
He added that Iran and Belarus have agreed to launch expert exhibitions in each other's territory; and also to launch jointly held companies.
He further added that Tehran and Minsk have assigned their commerce chambers with the task of facilitating economic and trade transactions between the two countries.
Nematzadeh noted that the two sides held the committee session in 3 days in which subcommittees investigated cooperation opportunities in health, trade, industry, tourism, banking, and finance sectors, the results of which were summarized in the MoU.
Vovk, for his part, stated that by signing the document, the countries have paved the way for more economic and political cooperation.
He also asserted that the two countries need to enhance cooperation regarding agriculture, mines, and mechanical engineering.
Iran and Belarus have recently been trying to expand mutual relations. The National Depository Center of Belarus and the Iranian Central Securities Depository and Settlement Funds Company (SAMAT) on Feb. 8 started cooperation to conduct connection of stock exchanges of the two countries.
The two organizations decided at that time to prepare the preliminaries for getting acquainted with the advantages and characteristics of capital markets in both the countries in technical and specialized session in order to launch operations in this regard.
