Iran and Iraq are in talks to synchronize the two countries’ power grids, an Iranian industry official said.
Arash Kordi, the head of Iran's Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company (Tavanir), has said that Iran’s power grid will be connected to Syria, Lebanon and Jordan in case Tehran and Baghdad finalize the ongoing talks, IRNA news agency reported.
He further added that the way for power exchange with Pakistan and Afghanistan will be paved once the plan on synchronizing power grid with the Middle Eastern countries is materialized.
The official added that Iran’s power exports over the first half of the current fiscal year (starting March 20) increased by 30 percent.
Iran annually exports worth of $750 million of power, Kordi mentioned.
Iran's power plants generated over 171.993 TWh of electricity between March 20 and Sept. 15.
The country’s electricity export has also increased by 25 percent up to 4.898 terawatt-hours (TWh) in the mentioned period.
