A senior manager at the AMB Iran 2018 said German companies are participating in an exhibition for metal working underway in south of the Iranian capital, Tehran, despite the threat of renewed US sanctions.
The AMB Iran 2018 is underway at the new Shahr-e-Aftab (Sun City) complex in south of Tehran with German and other foreign firms in attendance, Ziba Shahram told Trend on June 28.
“The exhibition was attended by 111 and 202 foreign firms from 17 countries in 2016 and 2017, respectively,” she said.
In 2017, more than 7,000 people paid a visit to the expo, Shahram added.
“The AMB Iran 2018 is a copy of the AMB Germany which is being held in the country for the third time since the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions”.
The event has so far received great reception, she said, adding that that is why organizers of VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association) and Messe Stuttgart are participating in the show and paving the way for more trade with Iran.
“This year, German organizers have decided to maintain their presence in Iran despite the recent political developments, as they are fully aware of Iran’s economic potential. However, some German firms were forced to leave Iran due to the US threats and lack of support from the German Federal Government,” Shahram said.
She added that a 5-axis lathe machine with high precision has been put on display at the exhibit for the first time ever in a bid to let Iranian engineers and firms to get familiar with it.
This year the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) are supporting a German group participation, giving more than 38 companies the platform to present their excellent products and to offer their renowned services to key players and decision makers from the Iran and Middle East. VDW e.V. as the association of German Machine Tool Builders‘ and one of the initiating associations for the German participation is accompanying the German delegation and providing professional advice.
Delegations from other countries, including Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, China, Japan, Russia, and the Netherlands are also present at the exhibition, which will conclude on June 29.
In a speech from the White House on May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the nuclear deal, which was achieved in Vienna in 2015 after around two years of negotiations.
