Georgia has issued decrees on the construction of solar and hydro power plants, Trend reports via the press service of the Georgian Government Administration.
The corresponding documents were approved by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili at today’s government meeting.
According to the PM, the construction of a solar power plant in Georgia’s Shida Kartli, and four hydro power plants in the Kvemo Kartli region is projected.
The total investment amount envisaged for the construction of all five stations totaled up to $15 million, the statement said.
Earlier it was announced that the construction of a 50-megawatt solar power plant by the UAE-based company Masdar, also known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, will bring about $100 million of foreign investments in Georgia’s Kvemo Kartli region.
Georgia’s Energy Development Fund and Masdar signed an agreement regarding the joint development of the solar power plant project on December 29, 2021. The specific start date of construction is still unknown.
