The arrest of the journalist of Turkish TV channel TRT Metin Turan in Egypt is prolonged for 15 days, Anadolu agency reported on Tuesday.

As the TV channel reported, the Turkish Embassy in Egypt has already expressed protest against this decision.

Two Turkish journalists were detained by the Egyptian security forces on August 17. One of the Turkish journalists was released then. The journalist of Turkish TV channel TRT Metin Turan is still being held in prison.

The Turkish journalists were covering the clashes of Friday of Wrath, when due to the increasing violence they were forced with hundreds of protesters to take refuge in Fateh Mosque in central Cairo at Ramses Square.

By evening of August 17, security forces carried out an operation to clean the mosque of the protesters. Dozens of people were taken out the mosque on special transports, many of them were detained.

Beginning from August 14 the Egyptian army launched a crackdown on the ousted President Mohamed Morsi's supporters, who were carrying out demonstrations. The army was using military equipment and firearms during the dispersal. As a result, about 2,000 people were killed.
