BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. A total of 686,200 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $707.8 million were exported from Azerbaijan last year.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee shows that the value of exports of fruits and vegetables decreased by $18.1 million (2.5 percent) and the export volume by 35,800 tons (5 percent) compared to the figures of 2023.
The share of fruits and vegetables in total exports in the reporting period amounted to 2.67 percent, while their share in non-oil exports amounted to 21.09 percent.
Azerbaijan imported 375,000 tons of fruits and vegetables last year for a total value of $281.8 million. Compared to 2023, the value of imports of fruits and vegetables increased by $51.9 million (22.6 percent), while the volume increased by 22,200 tons (6.3 percent).
The share of fruits and vegetables in total imports during the reporting period amounted to 1.34 percent.
Therefore, in 2024, exports of fruits and vegetables exceeded imports in value terms by more than 2.5 times and in volume terms by more than 1.8 times.
