BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14. Tajikistan’s economy is projected to grow by 7.5 percent in 2025, up from the 6.7 percent forecast in April, according to the latest outlook from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Trend reports.
Growth is expected to moderate to 5.5 percent in 2026, compared to the earlier estimate of 5 percent, before stabilizing at 4.5 percent by 2030.
The IMF’s new projections place Tajikistan well above the regional average for the Middle East and Central Asia, where GDP growth is expected to reach 3.5 percent in 2025 and 3.8 percent in 2026.
Earlier this year, the IMF recommended that the Tajikistan Customs Service (TCS) accelerate its modernization efforts through the establishment of a Reform Commission and a Project Management Unit to oversee progress. The Fund also urged improvements in human resources management, enhanced risk analysis, and greater automation in customs processes.
These reforms, according to the IMF, are essential for improving efficiency, boosting revenue collection, and supporting Tajikistan’s broader Medium-Term State Revenue Program (2024–2029).
