Iran's Astara Customs incomes reached some $5.38 millions (based on official rate of 24,800 rials per each USD) during the first half of the current solar year (started on March 21), which indicates an increase by 182 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year, head of Iran's Astara city Customs Administration, Jahangir Bakhshi said, Fars news agency reported.
According to the report, Iran has imported some 50,000 tons of goods, worth $53 millions through Astara Customs from Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia during the period.
The figures show 21 percent decrease and 34 percent increase in terms of value and worth respectively, compared to the same period of the last solar year.
The imported goods mainly include wood, metal, machinery and electrical appliances.
About 350,000 tons of non-oil goods, worth $147 million were exported via Astara Customs to Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia during the period, which indicates 7 percent increase and 5 percent decrease in terms of value and worth respectively compared to the first six months of the preceding year.
Foods, cement, minerals, chemical, plastic and agricultural products are among the exported goods.
According to the report, during the first six months of the current solar year some 6000 tons of goods worth $9 million were exported from Iran to Azerbaijan through suitcase trade.
During the period some 341,723 tourists used the Astara border checkpoint to cross the border.
About 126,000 tons of goods worth $289 millions were transited from Astara Customs to Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Turkey, Iraq and UAE during the period.
According to the report, motorcars, machinery and electrical appliances, glass containers, furniture, chemicals and cotton are among transited goods.
Iran's total non-oil exports (including condensates) decreased by 8 percent during the first five months of current solar year, compared to the same period in last year and reached $15.2 billion, while the imports decreased by 26.36 percent and reached $16.3 during the mentioned period of time.
Iran has a little of suitcase trade with $31 million worth during mentioned period.
