Mineral reserves of Iran’s Kurdistan Province expanding

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 17. The mineral reserves of Iran's western province of Kurdistan increased by 400 million tons since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023), said Mehdi Seyfi Baghikhani, the deputy chairman for mining issues of the Kurdistan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Trend reports.

According to Baghikhani, thus, the mineral reserves of the Kurdistan Province have exceeded 1 billion tons. Before that, the province's mineral reserves were over 600 million tons.

He also said that 27 new mines were found in the province during the mentioned period.

Bagikhani noted that 7 gold and iron ore mines were found in Saqqez County, 6 gold and iron ore mines in Bijar County and 14 gold and iron ore mines were found in Gorveh County.

The deputy added that new discovery operations are currently being carried out in 12,700 square kilometers of land in the Kurdistan Province.

As reported, Iran has more than 50 billion tons of mineral reserves in total, and it extracts more than 400 million tons of minerals every year.
